Acute herpes zoster lesions in most cases are self-limited except in older and immunocompromised patients, wherein the pain can cause significant suffering. Postherpetic neuralgia is a painful situation for patients that can compromise the quality of life. Here, we report a 30-year-old healthy young man who developed treatment-resistant postherpetic neuralgia after herpes zoster (fourth/fifth thoracic segment) without any underlying immunocompromised state. He also developed some cystic lesions, which were removed by aspiration and surgery. Hepatic calcifications have been increasingly identified over the past decade due to the widespread use of high-resolution Computed Tomography (CT) imaging. Calcifications can be seen in a vast spectrum of common and uncommon diseases, from benign to malignant, including cystic lesions, solid neoplastic masses, and inflammatory focal lesions. The purpose of this paper is to present an updated review of CT imaging findings of a wide range of calcified hepatic focal lesions, which can help radiologists to narrow the differential diagnosis.

One hundred fifty two cysts of the upper and lower jaw were examined at patients up to 18 years old treated in the Clinics of Maxillo-Facial Surgery, University Hospital, Plovdiv, Bulgaria for the period 1998 - 2007. Patients were distributed in four age groups (up to 4 years old, from 5 to 9 years old, from 10 to 14 years old, from 15 to 18 years old). Both sexes were constantly affected (52% male, 48% female). The biggest number cystic lesions were found in the third age group (48.7%). The mandible was preferable localization of the lesions (69.7%). Intraoral approach for the removal of impacted third molars represents a common surgical procedure for the specialized clinician. However, in some cases such as ectopic third molars, extraoral surgical removal seems to be inevitable. We present a step by step case of a 56 year old woman with an ectopic third molar of the lower jaw along with a cystic lesion, which were surgically removed by a submandibular approach.
